Atlanta Hawks Secure Top Pick in 2024 NBA Draft Lottery.

The Atlanta Hawks clinched the top spot in the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery, sponsored by State Farm, held at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago. This means they'll have the first overall pick in the NBA Draft 2024, also presented by State Farm. The draft's first round is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., followed by the second round on Thursday, June 27, at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in New York.

Here's a rundown of the lottery results:

1. Atlanta

2. Washington

3. Houston

4. San Antonio

5. Detroit

6. Charlotte

7. Portland

8. San Antonio

9. Memphis

10. Utah

11. Chicago

12. Oklahoma City

13. Sacramento

14. Portland

Despite having only a 3% chance of success, the Hawks secured the top pick. This comes after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 36-46 and losing their final six regular-season games. They also fell to the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the So-Fi Play-In Tournament.

General manager Landry Fields expressed his surprise and excitement at the win, acknowledging that it was unexpected but highly welcomed. With the first pick, the Hawks now have a significant opportunity to bolster their roster, although the top choice remains uncertain following last year's clear selection of Victor Wembanyama by San Antonio.

Washington and Detroit had the highest odds of landing the top pick at 14%. Atlanta's success with only 3% odds makes them one of the few teams in NBA history to win the lottery with such slim chances. The San Antonio Spurs, renowned for their savvy draft picks, notably secured Wembanyama last year, adding another generational talent to their roster.
